RGU students demand regular VC
ITANAGAR, Aug 07: Demanding for appointment of a full time VC in Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), the students union of the University today organized a peaceful rally in university premises which was participated by the students of all departments with the slogans “We want regular Vice Chancellor in RGU”.
The Rajiv Gandhi University Students’ Union (RGUSU) while expressing serious concern over the issue said that the frequent change of VC in this educational institution is hampering a lot in the developmental process. The union also submitted a memorandum to the RGU Acting VC Prof K C Kapoor, urging him to pursue the matter with the MHRD and UGC at the earliest.
Prof Kapoor while acknowledging the problem said that the need of the hour is to appoint a permanent VC. The students’ concern is genuine and we are taking up the matter with the concerned authority, Prof Kapoor assured. (RGU Mass Comm students)
Patum bridge needs Govt attention

Pasighat, Aug 07: Patum Bridge, one of the oldest bridge in West Siang located 6 km from Aalo town, is in a dilapidated condition due to lack of maintenance. It is the only bridge that connects the nearby Adi villages situated opposite of the Siyom river.
For any type of communication, the people located opposite of the bank have to rely only on this bridge which is in a poor condition due to years of wear and tear. Moreover, this kind of pathetic road condition has a direct impact on development of tourism in Upper and West Siang districts.
The road leading to Rumgong village and Pesing, about 32 km from Aalo town in West Siang district is also in a pathetic condition. The department concerned has never taken any interest to repair the road despite repeated pleas. It is the only road that links the village with rest of the state.
The All Adi Students Union (AASU) has blamed the elected representative and the department concerned for the pathetic road and bridge conditions.
“Despite our repeated appeal to the elected representatives and the higher authority to look into the matters, they did not pay any attention towards people’s grievances, lamented an office bearer of AASU.
“Moreover, the iron Patum bridge should be made of RCC. There is every possibility of washing away of the bridge by flash flood since it becomes weak due to years of wear and tear,” he opined.
AASU urged the state government and the concern local MLA of Rumgong constituency to look into the matter seriously and take prompt action to renovate the bridge.

Wanchos tie Rakhi to soldiers
ITANAGAR, Aug 7: In a unique celebration of the traditional festival of Rakshabandan, students and locals of Longding district tied ‘Rakhis’ to soldiers of the local army unit.
Around 50 students from the nearby schools came to the Longding Army post and participated in this pious ceremony. The soldiers in turn gave gifts to their local Wancho brothers and sisters.
The function once again reiterated the close bonding between the locals and the army based in Longding district.
Training prog on horticulture
ITANAGAR, Aug 7: A team of Horticulture Department field staff and three progressive farmers participated in 15 days training programme held at Noida recently.
The programme was conducted by Institute of Horticulture Technology, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation, Govt of India.
Training on planting materials, orchards management, rejuvenation of old orchards and green house management were imparted to the trainees during the training period. Horticulture director Jombo Ratan also visited the training programme to encourage the participants.

Child labour and child rights
According to an NGO there are six crore child labourers in our country and around Rs 1,20,000 crore is pocketed as profit by employers of child labour annually. As per government estimates, Rs 15 is spent on a child labourer per day while as per the national floor wage, an adult labourer must be paid Rs 115 per day.

No possibility of my involvement in A/Times office vandalization case
Dear Editor,
With reference to the press release published in your esteemed daily on July 28 in which it was mentioned that, I am prime accused or mastermind behind April 15 Arunachal Times office vandalization as per the statement of one Charu Tanium, I would like to state here that the said person has not given such statement to police as he is a stranger to me and as such, there is no possibility of my involvement in the said case.
Further, the announcement of huge amount of Rs two Lakh to informer as a reward, whoever gives information is clear manifestation of higher authority to make criminal or terrorist out of innocent person. The most wanted criminal, bank robber and rapist do not carry such huge amount on their head for their crime. I feel greatly dismayed at the news item of July 28 in which it clearly mentioned that I am a wanted criminal. I appeal not only to higher authority but to media fraternity and general public as well to look into issue judiciously, rather than blindly influenced by the faulty buzz.
The law says no one is criminal until and unless he/she is convicted by the Court of Law. The news has directly or indirectly hurt my sentiment and my humanity as well. I once again stand on my statement that neither I am involved nor mastermind behind Arunachal Times vandalization case.

Kamba circle needs CM’s attention for development
Dear Editor,
I would like to extend my heartiest thank to elected Panchayat leaders of Kamba Circle under Liromoba Assembly Constituency for apprising the CM about the lack of development in Kamba Circle.
Kamba, is one of the oldest and beautiful town in the West Siang district having ADC office, Police station, a college, a Hr. Sec. School and a Secondary School, and numbers of Middle school, primary school and private school. In spite of this, Kamba Circle is lagging far behind in terms of development.
The demands mentioned in the memorandum which was submitted by the Panchayat leaders of Kamba circle to CM are genuine and appreciable.
The people of Kamba circle need the attention of the CM and his initiative for speedy development.
We are eagerly waiting for his visit to the Circle.
